WANDER | WONDER
Wander | Wonder is a work in progress and exploration of the concept of travelling, time and getting lost. This VR and Film installation was also deeply inspired by Wim Wenders classical film "Den Himmel Über Berlin" from 1987. This piece is all about finding wonder and mysticism in the small details of daily life and being in touch with the mystery within the trivial. Wander|Wonder is a VR piece that reports a walk and exploration of the Mitte district, the city center of Berlin. The spectator can choose to be in 1st or 3rd person perspective within this traveling experience.
Also, the spectator is surrounded by video panels that focus specific elements that were captured during the walk - the challenge is for the spectator to find these same elements inside this traveling. The spectator can also be in touch with the outside world and surroundings through the panels connected to the camera device. This project was developed in the School of Machines, Making & Make-Believe, in the context of the Workshop "Closer - Simultaneous VR Experiences" - Virtual Reality as a tool to create immersive realms and bridges between people from all walks of life, strengthening human connection.
