Tiago Araújo (1991) Born and raised in Porto, Portugal, I work as a freelance
illustrator, animation filmmaker and visual artist. I have had since early on a deep love
and dedication to the Arts and a particular fascination for storytelling. I took my
undergraduation in Multimedia - Fine Arts in the Faculty of Fine Arts in the University
of Porto. I was also enrolled in the Erasmus program between 2012/2013 in Sheffield
Hallam University (Sheffield, United Kingdom) where I had the opportunity to study
Games Design. For several years I also worked as a freelance Illustrator and Independent
Comic-Book author, having participated in various international collective exhibitions and
comics anthologies. In 2015, I thought it was time to move from static image into moving
image, which motivated me to direct my first animated short-film “Patrioska”. The film
was part of the official selection of more than 60 film festivals worldwide, being part of the
panel “Twisted Minds, Troubled Souls” at Dotdotdot Kurzfilm Festival (Wien, Austria)
alongside Nicolas Mahler, Stefan Stratil and Pedro Rivero and screened in major festivals
like Animafest Zagreb and Landshut Kurzfilm Festival.
